First Farm Share Pickup from DeFrancesco Farm in Northford CT

Mike DeFrancesco is the brother of my previous Farmer Joe.  His eldest child also was a student at our music studio.  It's nice that I know all the members of their family who work at their farm and farmstand.

System is a bit different from our previous CSA.  They bring out the bin and transfer it to a canvas insulated bag that you get to keep!  They do reccomend you bring an additional or larger bag, as when the season hits full speed all the goodies will not fit!

I brought Gpa P with me and introduced him to Grandpa C of the family.  He is the father of Mike's wife.  They had a great chat while I learned the system.  He also bought himself a Strawberry Rhubarb pie made in their own bakery on premises.  He was excited that he could taste and gum it when we got home. 

So, on to the share

I received rhubarb, a quart of beautiful strawberries, a bunch of red Russian kale, rainbow Swiss chard, a huge head of lettuce, 2 greenhouse tomatoes and a house baked pound cake!  I also had the choice of a mint or cilantro plant, and I forgot to get it, as Gpa was all over the place, and I was trying to get him to the car. He loved it there.  All the flowers, seedlings, decor and goats distracted him.
