Elder Update Another Year of Chaos

 

Uncle is currently in his home again, after being with us for 6 weeks.  His Assistant from his career days graciously extended a planned visit to come earlier and stay later.  Lots of plans need to be made for his needs in the future.  PT, OT, companion (hourly or live in) Very frustrated that I am again caring for an elder when they have an adult child.  But I will do it, as my frustration is not with the elder, but with the child.  Neither my Aunt or now Uncle's only child came when there was a true need. 

Pops, aka Gpa P has been diagnosed with oral cancer.  He will be meeting with Head and Neck Cancer Team at Smilow.  Definitely a Head and Neck MRI coming (oral surgeon suggested a full body MRI) so we wait for that determination.  Discussion of reconstructive surgery, chemo and radiation.  

He also is having another biopsy of a different organ.  Poor man is getting a double whammy.  

My goal is to make sure DH, DD and I have quality time.  Still take care of my DM.  Still take care of myself.   I have warned my staff and students I may be having subs more than usual.  Greatful my DS is still in CT to help. 

I went to the dentist for a cleaning, plan on infusion this week, and have now gotten schedule in a 2 teaching days off every four weeks.  Finding happiness in finishing garden for the year, cooking and baking.  

Another fun thing coming up is I am having the studio professionally landscaped at the student entrance.  It's a small area, and it will make me very happy to see it when I pull up each day.   Very reasonable small family business.  I will post pictures when it's done later this week.
