This was a day trip (ride to ferry was longer than time we spent on the island)
DH wanted to go to say we were on the island for the 50th anniversary of Jaws.
Gas and 3 Honey Dew Donuts $28
Drive to Falmouth Cape Cod (closer ferry's were booked) to get the Island Queen at 10 am. I bought round trip tickets in advance $60
Used free bus service while we were there. This alone saved us a lot of money. Uber was $30 for 7 miles, OMG! No thank you.
I purchased an adorable Madagascar handmade bag/basket the perfect size to hold my instrument strings at work . $26
A shirt for Gpa P that had 3 lures on it $26
3 Jaws shirts (one as a gift for my SIL) $73
3 pounds of different fudge and large bag of salt water taffy $44
Lunch at the Edgartown Diner (really to avoid a downpour) $48 with tip DH got burger and fries, I had shrimp and grits. Water for me and Root Beer for him.
$315
Everything was cash and we had some good quality time together. Of course we were soaked, but so was everyone else. So it was worth it to have a good story to tell. Priceless.
$315 for a day trip? Priceless? Don't agree. I haven't bought souvenirs in decades. And we pack drinks and sandwiches. But hey! We all do what is best for ourselves. Glad you had a good time. Other than spend money did you get to DO or SEE anything? Did you get to the beach? Despite the rain?
ReplyDeleteHi. I knew this post would get some judgement. This one day adventure was planned 6 months ago. On one of the few days we could both go. Hubs likes to wear commemorative tshirts, every day to work he has a conversation starter shirt on. We were on the island 10 years ago for the 40th anniversary of one of his favorite movies, Jaws. At that time we went to beaches, historical buildings. This year it's the 50th. We purposely went before the 'season' kicked in, to save costs. We spent more than intended as we didn't plan on eating on the island. I don't think I can express to the readers how heavy the rain was, along with thunder, lightning and wind. The plan was tshirts, fudge, find spots again that were in the movie to see if they changed at all. The unplanned purchase was the lure shirt (Father's day gift for Gpa P) and the handmade bag/basket that I could sort my strings in. We also were able to talk about a lot of things we haven't had time to discuss regarding family, home repairs and goals. All while cold, wet, shivering and laughing. Yes, it was a great day. Worth every penny. Priceless.
