Fermenting Lacto-Pickles with FarmSteady Kit

 


DH gave me this kit for Christmas.  Now is the time to use it!    It seems very easy, and hopefully I will have better luck then when I tried to make Saurkraut.  The Farmsteady kit includes a glass 2 quart jar, lid, weight, salt, teabag and Airlock.  

I washed all the items, washed cucumbers, put them in an ice bath for 20 minutes.   While I was waiting for that, I dissolved 2 Tablespoons of Pickling Salt in a quart of water.  I added the tea bag to the jar along with some of my pickling spices.  Put in cukes and then covered with Brine.  Topped with weight, screwed on lid and then inserted air lock into lid.
