Ending the Year by Making Butter

 It was a fun and delicious way to end the year, and a great start to the coming year.  Making food from scratch, involving the family and having fun.  DH gave me a larger butter churn as part of my Christmas gift. 

We used organic pasturized heavy cream from a farm in PA.  One that we do alot of business with when we are there.  I left the quart out to get to room tempature.    Sister and I shared the churning chore. 




It took almost an hour of churning


Poured through a nut bag and strainer to save the buttermilk. 

Rinsed over and over whilst squeezing under cold water. 

Added fine real salt as it was stirred and shaped. 


Delicious!
