Utilize your Public Library for free classes

I just attended a free class this morning at my towns public library.      Here is a write up.

Community Room
Monday, Aug. 20, 10:30 a.m. (January 9, 2019 at 6:30)

One was an accomplished musician and composer who taught a deaf woman to play the piano. Another ran the Pierpont Store for 18 years. Others were tailors, ran brickyards, or were religious outcasts. What do all of these people have in common? They were all women from North Haven's long history. But why were they not remembered? "Unusual, Unlikely, Unexpected and Unacknowledged : Who Were These Women?" will showcase these women in North Haven, demonstrating how they were a vital part of North Haven's history, but also how women's history must be permanently integrated into local historical organizations throughout the country. Free and open to the public.  Presented by Marisa Hexter

Hexter is a senior at Wheaton College MA majoring in History and Italian Studies. She was born and raised in North Haven and has volunteered at the North Haven Historical Society and Museums for the past 5 years.
Registration Required

I was fascinated.    It was a wonderful presentation and Free!

They gave us a booklet on other classes for Adults through January 2019.      DH had me register him for three of them!

  1. The lectures at the library or Chamber that I would like to attend are advertised in a paper that has all ads and community events column. This Wednesday paper often arrives at noon on Thursday and by the time I get it, the event has passed! But. these events are two blocks from me, so excuse as to distance. Most events are child-centered.
