I spent $24 at my market share market Four Root Farm as I had finished my share. I got a nice hardy bag of swiss chard, broccoli rabe
A large purple top turnip and some sweet potatoes.
Fresh Tumeric. Any ideas from my readers?
Carrots from my organic farm and another batch of rabe to try from Massaro Farm
A beautiful whole butterflied chicken from Sankow Farms $14.58
Didn't know tumeric was sold as fresh (am only familiar with the ground spice version) so I looked it up: How to prepare fresh turmeric?
ReplyDeleteJust like with ginger root, I find it's easiest to peel the skin using the edge of a spoon. Then simply grate with a microplane grater or cut off whole pieces. You can wrap the unused portion tightly in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for a week to 10 days. Add a 1-inch piece of turmeric root to smoothies.

ReplyDeleteThanks Carol!
DeleteDoes Edgewood stop? Wooster continues for at least a few more weeks (I think) before they go inside. I gotta ask when we go this Saturday to make sure.
ReplyDeleteNo, goes til mid December but I will be away most Sundays.
