Amazing how much I am getting from just a few sprigs! Annoyed I haven't done this in previous years. Drying basil isn't working out as well for me. I think I will continue to freeze it for use in the winter.
If you have a microwave, you can easily dry basil in the microwave. Here is a random post about it. http://simpledailyrecipes.com/5921/how-to-dry-fresh-herbs-in-a-microwave/
I put the leaves between 2 paper towels and microwave them in 30 second increments. Usually it takes a minute to 90 seconds. For thyme, rosemary and oregano, I just let them dry in bowls on my window sill. My oregano is a couple of years old now and doesn't smell like anything anymore! So I'm going to pull it (one of these days) and start anew with seeds.
I have done it in the microwave before. But I also like to hang it. I'm going to try to post a picture of the beautiful gift my cousin and her husband and the kids made for us for Christmas that I actually use as my Herb drying stand.
