You walk in, and it's like a Harry Potter Shoppe for the adults. The display case is beautifully set up (see photo above) We were greeted by two lovely women, who were excited to hear it was our first time visiting. Cream Puffs are filled upon ordering. I loved that. We decided we have made it 21 days into the month without very much spending, so this was our first Date of the New Year. We had a budget of $50.00 for the bakery. </p><p>I could not see everything on the shelves, there were unusual candies, sparkling teas in large glass bottles and various honey's, condiments and other rarely seen by me items on display. I didn't want to push past people, and it was a bit tight. I would have liked to have searched every item on these shelves. </p><p>They do sell various coffee drinks. There is very limited seating. One small table with 2 chairs, a window seat that could comfortably sit 3 with a small round table, and a chair or bench close to the shelves. </p><p>We gave one of the women our order, she wrote it on a small pad with a pencil. She tore it off and brought it around the back wall. Asked for a name. It was brought out to use all boxed up and in a nice paper bag with handles. </p><p>We purchased a salted caramel cookie (big enough for 4 people) 3 cream puffs (lychee nut, chocolate and vanilla), a chocolate lemon cake and a delightful rice pudding made with rice, cream and vanilla, and sitting on a layer of house made caramel. Our total bill was $45.00</p><p>DH couldn't pick a favorite. I liked the lychee nut cream puff, but I loved the rice pudding. It came in a reusable plastic cup with lid. I would have liked it even without the caramel. We split each sweet throughout the weekend, enjoying a mouthful of each. I only had a nibble of the cookie (not really a fan of caramel) A bite or mouthful is just enough as all were quite rich. <br /></p><p>In addition to the small treats you can also purchase whole cakes. Some, like the coffee cake come ready for you to bake! Another unusual and unique take on a bake shop. </p><p>Was it worth the price? Yes, I think for the experience and exploration of their items on top of the tasting I think yes. Nice date. </p><p style="text-align: center;">Here are some closeups of what we had. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh683une3WsbK4OuMRQCfJ17MGgV190h0DtV3yDCS6QIAaAKp9t7O9r3N8wYw5xoV9_Jz4UvCwzA3nrmXFab7wijUs7YlRstKqUgVg6Q0G9qSThZMVZ70YmDO2MuvkKcCryeG403D63I-dS6PBTuA8uWkxeQHpPxRJaMH4VMoo9Vu5etVi0QM97PQ7FK9Q1/s4032/IMG_6992.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh683une3WsbK4OuMRQCfJ17MGgV190h0DtV3yDCS6QIAaAKp9t7O9r3N8wYw5xoV9_Jz4UvCwzA3nrmXFab7wijUs7YlRstKqUgVg6Q0G9qSThZMVZ70YmDO2MuvkKcCryeG403D63I-dS6PBTuA8uWkxeQHpPxRJaMH4VMoo9Vu5etVi0QM97PQ7FK9Q1/w150-h200/IMG_6992.HEIC" width="150" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL3U1yorBOgdoIp7fGp9_6ldzZRAvVRg5WUEJ2dy38kscwM3eLURTNo0NruhZ4m7Lf-J2ZRugbezwYQkgR3y5Fq-9HQ-QSh1phiBEdxBX4QMEuGy4g7TgR0-pl0NOkZVaFyAClbakdp_CHmciyhw_ON1BzfBUKTsq7L0klccXm-1ttYTEdqMjoFoUFRsJE/s4032/IMG_6994.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL3U1yorBOgdoIp7fGp9_6ldzZRAvVRg5WUEJ2dy38kscwM3eLURTNo0NruhZ4m7Lf-J2ZRugbezwYQkgR3y5Fq-9HQ-QSh1phiBEdxBX4QMEuGy4g7TgR0-pl0NOkZVaFyAClbakdp_CHmciyhw_ON1BzfBUKTsq7L0klccXm-1ttYTEdqMjoFoUFRsJE/w150-h200/IMG_6994.HEIC" width="150" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Cream puffs, very nice texture to the puff. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbPiSUlTRTJ5j9xiuafHSZdA_xjjMEom6D7fdilpSBF8IhB-KyC6twfSy0tx7o8-kjEBHDdHe4ItejA42vfpu9UKOzRkivEQg77JzWW359D53In7IDh-C44IgVydAKtItoZxbYiamYl89rscV0FRnaswfUirJRk3vpellvJBLymQGx2a2cRBhyNXuhx-6x/s4032/IMG_6990.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbPiSUlTRTJ5j9xiuafHSZdA_xjjMEom6D7fdilpSBF8IhB-KyC6twfSy0tx7o8-kjEBHDdHe4ItejA42vfpu9UKOzRkivEQg77JzWW359D53In7IDh-C44IgVydAKtItoZxbYiamYl89rscV0FRnaswfUirJRk3vpellvJBLymQGx2a2cRBhyNXuhx-6x/w150-h200/IMG_6990.HEIC" width="150" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Chocolate Lemon Cake, chocolate cake layer, topped with a chocolate lemon whipped cream. One of my favorite childhood memories is bringing the milk in from the delivery box. I have seen many reviews (all over the place) but I decided the good outweighed the bad, so giving it a go. I have mentally committed to do it for 2 months, and then we will re-evaluate to continue until it gets warmer. </p><p>I am getting a 64 ounce glass bottles of whole milk, 16 oz heavy cream, muffin of the week (cinnamon coffee cake, get 2) and 32 oz of whole plain yogurt. Could I get these products cheaper? Absolutely. However DH and I are committed to buying local, and open to trying all different ways to do this. I can't travel (especially in winter months) to all of these farms, so this is a way for me to use the service. </p><p>You can make changes to what you are getting each week, as well as add on items. We both jumped out of bed, I checked on Pops, who was awake and had no idea what it was. I then checked basement and garage, DH checked perimeter of property (mainly through windows in each room) No idea what it was, we think it might have been a tree falling in the preserve behind our property. If it was, it was a huge tree. <p></p><p>No sirens, so no car crash closeby. No power issues nearby, as we had power. Very unsettling. Needless to say, I never went back to sleep. </p><p>Turkey I had taken out of deep freeze was not defrosted yet. I almost caved to order sandwich items, or even leave cash for pizza. To tired to do alot, and have a long lesson day today....would be so easy. But I didn't. </p><p>I dug through the pantry, pulled out a jar of pumpkin sauce and a jar of vodka sauce. A bag of made in Italy Penne. I then dug through kitchen freezer, and pulled out bags of prepped onions, peppers and cabbage. That's now cooking up on the stove top with a bit of olive oil. </p><p>No spending. </p>Ms. Sandiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09030345385607363319noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760956770584610340.post-47449421599202038872024-01-14T23:36:00.068-05:002024-01-16T17:23:20.751-05:00Spending and Activities Week 2 of 2024<p style="text-align: center;"> January 8 - 14th </p><p style="text-align: center;">First snow of the season Saturday into Sunday. Boy, they are not kidding. I'm finally making a concentrated effort in consolidating, purging and reorganizing our Christmas Collection. This is our biggest combined collection (between DH and myself) He collects vintage and unusual Santa's, and I Nativity's/Creche displays. </p><p>I used to have an enormous Fontanini Collection, from the City of Bethlehem, Stable, Escape to Egypt and parts of the Last Supper/Crucifiction. I have narrowed this down through the last 5 years by selling off pieces, some local, some shipped. I now have it pared down to the Stable, Holy Family, Kings, Animals, Shephard, One very old Kings Tent (that is to delicate to ship, and I just don't want to part with it) and the Olive Crusher/Donkey Mill. </p><p>I was working so much downstairs that DH made me promise to slow down, and only spend 45 minutes a week at it. I think I'll do that 2 or 3 days a week. </p><p>Spending was mainly with Gift Cards. New Boots with 3 student gifts to Amazon. New Stationary/Note Cards and Christmas Cards from Target (again, gift cards) My current Merrell Boots were over 10 years old! I replaced them with these (they are waterproof too!)</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4uqminSZ7B1DN2ivHe6y8Go6ERP7hxwHPH7xfN_EhveiqRVxVSBkMf4yUePkCkXdAqoKInf1bxHhccrZxQGWFvRZ-gSV6A754-ExjBfTN1K-dgabRwu8UnEiiDVI3L0ZCdRpZxlMFBObde3lB56LL15XNg4pCt22Pp-vZL5rJ6mTzCamaspYnDNBC1EdO/s695/merrell.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="536" data-original-width="695" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4uqminSZ7B1DN2ivHe6y8Go6ERP7hxwHPH7xfN_EhveiqRVxVSBkMf4yUePkCkXdAqoKInf1bxHhccrZxQGWFvRZ-gSV6A754-ExjBfTN1K-dgabRwu8UnEiiDVI3L0ZCdRpZxlMFBObde3lB56LL15XNg4pCt22Pp-vZL5rJ6mTzCamaspYnDNBC1EdO/s320/merrell.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Spending on groceries was minimal. Making food from scratch, involving the family and having fun. DH gave me a larger butter churn as part of my Christmas gift. </p><p>We used organic pasturized heavy cream from a farm in PA. Canned 4 of them and used the rest of the stock to make vegetable soup. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFHrp2UHqjxGoMCPUhtOgiRLNCVnwDgl9XCb3YuF0h0hTlQNHQWEz_XeUqkp7YdMdKCzFgDvPYrTq8jxCfu4s7CGsg1WWRD0sbhNlzREN6BJ9fE49feAer7ACc4iTsdBFexDbFLdEiICdl0w6PJZEKWlM6zFTW1OSld7GirobGz4GMn4LuddQC5mtso-el/s4032/IMG_5264.HEIC" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFHrp2UHqjxGoMCPUhtOgiRLNCVnwDgl9XCb3YuF0h0hTlQNHQWEz_XeUqkp7YdMdKCzFgDvPYrTq8jxCfu4s7CGsg1WWRD0sbhNlzREN6BJ9fE49feAer7ACc4iTsdBFexDbFLdEiICdl0w6PJZEKWlM6zFTW1OSld7GirobGz4GMn4LuddQC5mtso-el/s320/IMG_5264.HEIC" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p>Took 5 lbs of whole tomatoes out of the freezer (needed to make room for the last of the chicken share) and removed the skins after defrosting (and those I dried to grind down for future use). The tomatoes I cut in half, squeezed out seeds and then cooked them down, added basil, and cream for a delicious tomato soup. </p><p>Tomorrow I hope to plant the 20 gifted to me direct from Holland tulip bulbs from my next door neighbor and do a small Stop and Shop Pickup. </p>Ms. Sandiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09030345385607363319noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760956770584610340.post-3119097257384956972023-11-06T20:14:00.001-05:002023-11-06T20:14:00.150-05:00Mark Your Calendars for Dec 2 and 3, 2023 for 10 percent off Target Gift Cards<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlG-RrFKPyz10y2BWOVX0pFc-ZqAJOEsC7p6FHrgP6Z3ltUafLhke9efKSXCsKicwUQTmoE462OEiG0OaZCbqFdR5vVdCA_kkUjdl6hafy7x2rlYsU_RvYDtbCRVAQA-8A7AJjCnKIEbH5XFSyGH6g1XLDve13eCEVy957FbjYoow7vOQdaO_8NIde_JbK/s460/Target_Bullseye-Logo_Red.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="460" data-original-width="460" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlG-RrFKPyz10y2BWOVX0pFc-ZqAJOEsC7p6FHrgP6Z3ltUafLhke9efKSXCsKicwUQTmoE462OEiG0OaZCbqFdR5vVdCA_kkUjdl6hafy7x2rlYsU_RvYDtbCRVAQA-8A7AJjCnKIEbH5XFSyGH6g1XLDve13eCEVy957FbjYoow7vOQdaO_8NIde_JbK/s320/Target_Bullseye-Logo_Red.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 16px;">Earn 10% Off at The Annual Target Gift Card Sale. My purchase of $285.00 worth every penny. The entire share offered 5% off full price PLUS since I paid in full I received $25.00 credit which I used for seedlings in the spring and some salad greens. </p><p style="text-align: center;">Best chicken and stock I have ever had. I also like that I can pick my pound total, and how it is distributed throughout the year. This year I picked their first and last processing dates (June 3rd and Nov 4). I could choose to get the whole chickens fresh or frozen. I utilize all of the meat, and then make 2 batches of stock (total of 28 cups) per chicken. </p>Ms. Sandiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09030345385607363319noreply@blogger.com1
