All is Well Here (updated)

Lots of people are without power, lots of damage to their land and homes.   When I left the studio last night it was fine, took 3 times as long to get home due to having to reroute several times.  House is fine.  We have power.

All CT people please update us.

So, even though the studio still has power, there were so few streets passable and so many students either didn't have power (or their instruments) that we ended up not holding lessons/ensembles today.

A student (who had plans to spend the afternoon with me as he was alone with no power) and I went on a brief traveling adventure

After his Mom picked him up at my home DH and I went on another drive.  Many streets with telephone poles, trees and wires down.   We didn't bring a camera with us, as we were also going to have a car battery tested and DD was calling us with car trouble as well.  We saw more than a dozen houses with trees on them.  Two crushed cars.

And Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford is just devastated.

Mother Nature.  Don't make her angry.

  1. I was just reading about the devastation in CT and wondering how you and your husband were doing. Glad to know you're safe and sound and have power!

  2. Lost a known to be rotting tree out back within the few minutes of the microburst crossing over the NY line into CT. No property damage, just a clean up needed. war zone around here, many fallen trees, folks w/o power (not us, we are lucky and have a whole house generator if needed), schools closed, half bus service is cancelled, crews from out of state just arriving to do clean up, stores/business and even some of the satalight offices of the local hospital are closed. 2 dead locally, one seriously injured. : (

  3. Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down 20 miles North East of us, 1 dead here when a tree fell on a car....so sad. Some still without power North of us. I hope we don't get this coming through again anytime soon.
